When it rains, it pours for NFLer Orlando Scandrick.
Having already lost his chick Draya Michele a few days ago, the Dallas Cowboy just received even more bad news that’s definitely going to affect his pockets.
According to ESPN, Orlando’s been suspended after testing positive for molly. The cornerback failed a surprise mandatory drug test in April just days after returning from Mexico with Draya, which put him in violation of the NFL’s drug policy. Due to the violation, the league has suspended the seven-year vet for four games, resulting in a loss of $1 million dollars plus his signing bonus repayment.
In a released statement, Orlando says he takes full responsibility for his actions, but didn’t knowingly take the drug:
“I would like to apologize to my children, my family, the Jones family, my coaches, my teammates and my fans. Failing a drug test is far out of my character, and although I never knowingly took a performance-enhancing drug/banned stimulant while on vacation in Mexico, I take full responsibility for what goes in my body and more importantly for the embarrassment of a failed drug test. It’s my goal by issuing this statement to clear my name and more importantly to be judged by what happens to me in the future.
“I hope that my family, my Cowboys football family and all my fans can forgive me for this situation. I look forward to a successful 2014 season.”
He may be taking full responsibility, but sources say Orlando may be blaming Draya. The tea spillers confirm that the violation did take place in Mexico, but that Orlando is claiming Draya “persuaded” him to add the unknowingly banned substance to a cocktail they were drinking.
Sources told Werder that the violation occurred while Scandrick was vacationing in Mexico with an ex-girlfriend, whom he has claimed persuaded him to add a substance he didn’t realize was on the banned list into a cocktail they were drinking.
Draya is saying otherwise.
Taking to her Twitter, the reality star says she wasn’t her ex’s pusher and that she’s been supporting him since he failed the test. She also goes on to talk about her image, which she says she will continue to clean up.
“Sources” say I drugged this man ….. People have written statements taking responsibility for their actions …. Never once blaming me. I’m not to blame …. I’ve been supporting him since April when this happened. And I will continue to support him.
If someone says to you “all you care about is your image” …. Be careful, they might try to ruin it. It was so easy in the past to tarnish my own name, and I work hard every day trying to make better choices to clean that up.
The irony of it all is that Orlando was featured on Draya’s web series titled, “Blame Draya.” And he’s blaming Draya.
This is the second time an active NFL player found himself in some trouble after appearing on reality TV. Fortunately for Orlando, this won’t be career ending.
