Remember back in 2008, when Lil Wayne almost signed with Jay Z?

If his tweets are real, he may be regretting he didn’t go through with that move. Today, the Young Money rapper took to Twitter to express his disgust with his label who he says is holding up the release of his album, Tha Carter V. He also said that he wants out.

He wrote:

“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it. This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation. I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy. I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u.”

He later tweeted:

“Pray.”

Meanwhile rapper Pusha T took the opportunity to do a little recruiting, telling Wayne to head over to G.O.O.D. Music is he doesn’t want the hassle.

@LilTunechi if u wanna drop albums & don’t want your CEO’s rubbing they hands all in your videos, COME TO GOOD MUSIC!! (Suge Knight voice)

@LilTunechi this too shall soon pass #cometoGOODMUSIC

Hopefully, Yeezy throws him a finder’s fee for that tweet.

Julia Beverly, Founder/CEO of Ozone Magazine also added:

Hmm someone did tell me that a big fallout in the cash money camp was coming. I thought tyga was it lol

In an interview with The Breakfast Club last year, Jay Z revealed that once Baby found out he was talking to Wayne about possibly joining Rocafella, he was sent a legal letter immediately:

The truth is, I had a relationship with Baby. I felt it was only right to call him out of respect. So I was like, ‘Yo I was talking to Wayne.’ And then boom boom, after that we received a letter at our office for, I think it was, ‘Torturous interference.’”

I would rather lose that situation and do the right thing than the opposite. I could have signed him and called [Birdman] after that, but I made the right choice.

Birdman allegedly gave Lil Wayne his own label, Young Money, under the Cash Money imprint shortly after that incident to keep him happy.

As of now, it’s not clear if Wayne was hacked but there hasn’t been any other reactions from Young Money so far.
