Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ Leaked a Week Early

Last week the title, tracklist, and release date of To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar’s hotly anticipated follow-up to 2012’s Good Kid… M.A.A.D. City, were all unveiled. And although To Pimp A Butterfly was scheduled for a March 23 release, late Sunday night Lamar tweeted a link to iTunes that allowed fans to buy a clean version of the album. Shortly thereafter, the unedited, explicit version became available for download, with the album appearing on Spotify shortly after that. But while this may seem like yet another surprise album release from a high-profile artist, Anthony Tiffith of Top Dawg Entertainment—which represents Lamar—tweeted that the album’s release was, in fact, the record label’s mistake.

To Pimp A Butterfly

As of now To Pimp A Butterfly has been pulled from iTunes, with only the album’s first single, “The Blacker The Berry,” available for download. The record is still up on Spotify, however. Those looking to hear the album before March 23 may want to hurry, however, in case that stream ends up getting pulled too.

Somebody’s getting fired.

R. Kelly Facing Jail Time Over Back Child Support

Via Rhymes With Snitch:

R. Kelly is accused in court papers filed Thursday by his ex-wife Andrea Kelly of failing to pay $20,833 a month in child support he owes. The claim comes after he reportedly fell behind more than $100,000 in payments last year, but then paid the debt off.

Kelly’s trouble doesn’t end there: One of his attorneys has told Kelly’s camp that if the singer doesn’t appear at a March 27 hearing in his child- custody battle in Chicago, a judge could give him 30 days to six months behind bars because Kelly didn’t show up at a November hearing.

“The judge was clear in November that he wasn’t happy R. Kelly didn’t show up,” said a source. “His lawyer is worried the judge could lock Kelly up if he doesn’t show this time, but he can’t reach his client.”

According to reports Kells owes a lot of people money from his last album and has been ‘unreachable’ for weeks.

Beyonce pops up at Walmart and surprises shoppers with a little holiday gift

screen-shot-2013-12-22-at-10-20-06-am-1Beyonce paid a surprise visit to a Tewksbury, Mass., Walmart on Sunday, December 20, giving shoppers the treat of all holiday treats.
After moseying around the store shopping accompanied by her security team, a camera crew and a gaggle of fans, she approached checkout to pay, at which point she grabbed the intercom mic.

‘It’s Beyonce,’ she said. ‘I stopped by the store today because my record just arrived. I want to send everyone a little gift. For everyone in the store right now, the first $50 of your holiday gifts are on me. Merry, merry Christmas from Beyoncé.”

According to Boston.com, Beyonce handed out 750 gift cards, totaling a whopping $37,500.

According to local Fox affiliate WGHP, the grammy-winning artist stopped at the store on her way to performing a concert in Boston. And that new self-titled album she was talking about? It shattered sales records after dropping unannounced on Dec. 13, 2013.

“It was amazing, quite a scene,” Walmart spokeswoman Sarah McKinney told the station. “Everybody was so excited when she came in, and it’s so great what she did for our customers right before Christmas.”

All hail, Queen Bey!

Should you boycott R.Kelly’s “Black Panties” Album?

R-Kelly

One week following the release of his 12th solo studio LP, “Black Panties,” R. Kelly’s past sexual assault allegations have resurfaced via an article from The Village Voice.

And although the story detailing the singer’s various accusations of relationships with underage girls has made its rounds on the web and received a great deal of attention, R. Kelly seems to be unscathed by it.

Kelly responded to the story and those who are retracting his controversial past on Monday during a radio interview with our boy Big Tigger on Atlanta’s V-103 saying

“Well I feel like I got the football, man, I’m running towards the touchdown and stopping and looking back, mess around, I’ll get tackled,” he said. “And I also want my fans and everybody out there to know that I really appreciate everybody’s support from the very beginning of my career. But as you know, when you get on top of anything, it’s very windy up there.”

“It’s not just about getting on top, it’s about holding your balance once you get up there…You have to be spiritually a climber. So I feel good about ‘Black Panties’… As long as I got my fans screaming my name around the world and buying my records, and supporting R. Kelly, everybody who doesn’t agree with it should listen to the last song on ‘Black Panties’ [‘Shut Up’].”
