Here’s a question to all of the Gabby Douglas hair haters out there…..What do corn flakes, milk and the Olympic Gold Medalist have in common? They’ll all be featured on Kellogg’s cereal boxes this fall, ’cause our cousin’s cousin Gab just inked a major endorsement deal with the cereal company!
After sweeping the women’s All-around gymnastics final and being the first African-American to win a gold medal in the category, Gabby went on the “Today” show Friday and announced the major cereal deal. The 16-year-old will be the face of Kelloggs Corn Flakes starting this fall, so every American can wake up feeling like a champ. This is the first of many deals Gabby is likely to sign on to … she made history with her gold medal and she’s still young enough to compete in the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil … which could mean many more deals to come.
Buy a box of Flakes…..forget Wheaties!
Thank God for this post we spotted on Jezebel! People will always find fault even during what should be one of our proudest moments. Stop the hate and congratulate a fellow American for doing her thing and bringing home a Medal for our country!
As of yesterday, 16-year-old Gabby Douglas is officially an Olympic gold medalist. But some people watching her compete weren’t focusing on her floor exercise — they were distracted by her hair.
Monisha Randolph, a contributor to a blog called Sporty Afros (run by our pals Alexandria Williams and Whitney Patterson), has been dismayed with what she’s seen:
So what’s the big deal about Gabby’s hair? From what I am reading on Facebook and Twitter, many African American women who are SITTING and WATCHING Gabby compete believe her hair is not “kept.”
