The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here. Big Sean‘s third album, Dark Sky Paradise, is now available on iTunes after a string of solid singles, music videos, and behind-the-scenes clips. The few songs we’ve already heard have already proven this is his most personal effort yet.
We’ve always felt that Sean has always been a rapper on the cusp of something greater than he is. We’ve just been waiting on him to show out.
His first big single, “My Last,” was a hit, but most credited that to a banging hook from Chris Brown. Kanye West put Sean on two of the biggest posse cuts of 2012 – “Mercy and Clique” – only to see him get outshined by everyone else.
He then released the most buzzed about single of 2013 with “Control.” Only, the song’s success had nothing to do with him and everything to do with Kendrick Lamar’s verse. Even Sean’s biggest single to date, 2011’s “Dance (A$$),” is totally owned by guest Nicki Minaj.
However, it looks like the rapper’s new album looks to change that trend. The 26-year-old’s third effort is a good record that finds him coming close to his full potential, in our opinion.
The album starts with “Dark Sky (Skyscrapers)” a decent intro that overplays the reaching for the stars metaphor. Things get interesting after that, as Big Sean holds his own with Drake “Blessings” and completely gets blown out of the water by West on the amazing “All Your Fault.” Yet, West is so swaggering on the latter, it’s hard to fault Sean.
He’s on his way. Download Dark Sky Paradise here on iTunes.
Beyoncé has announced and released an album on the same day.
The queen’s fifth LP entitled “Beyoncé” was released exclusively on iTunes early Friday and features tracks with Jay-Z, Drake, Frank Ocean and her daughter Blue Ivy.
Every song on the album also comes with its own music video. The project comes amid rumors that Bey wouldn’t let 2013 go without a new album. Whispers turned into a reality that played out on Twitter, where fans excitedly shared the news, mostly in all-caps messages that included the letters “OMG.”
Beyoncé says in a statement that she “didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it.” She says she wanted the album to come out when it was ready, from her to her fans.
How she was able to keep this a secret and avoid songs being leaked is beyond our belief, but she’s the Queen, so what do you expect?

Destiny’s Child is at it again!
The news of a new album release was announced by the group’s lead singer and most successful member, Beyoncé, posted Thursday to her official website.
The “Survivor” singers will release a greatest hits compilation album titled “Love Songs” on Jan. 29.
The project features one new song, “Nuclear,” produced and co-written by mega-producer Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes.
It will be the first new song for the girl group in years, and the second compilation for Destiny’s Child since October.
The announcement comes weeks before Beyoncé takes the stage for the half-time show at Superbowl XLVII. Rumors suggest Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams could be joining her on stage.
