With 2014 Forest Hills Drive in stores, J. Cole paid a visit to “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Wednesday. But instead of performing a song off his new album, he paid tribute to Mike Brown and Eric Garner with “Be Free,” a song that he released in August. Dressed in all black, Cole closed his eyes as he delivered the emotional lyrics, and debuted some new bars.
“Forget this chain ’cause this ain’t me / Though I’m eternally grateful to Jay Z,” he raps.
2014 Forest Hills Drive is expected to sell 320-350k in its first week, but Cole brushed off the projections.
“Album in stores now. 2014 Forest Hills Drive. No thank you on projections. Just did Letterman, I’ll never forget it. Thank you God,” he tweeted.

Destiny’s Child is at it again!
The news of a new album release was announced by the group’s lead singer and most successful member, Beyoncé, posted Thursday to her official website.
The “Survivor” singers will release a greatest hits compilation album titled “Love Songs” on Jan. 29.
The project features one new song, “Nuclear,” produced and co-written by mega-producer Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes.
It will be the first new song for the girl group in years, and the second compilation for Destiny’s Child since October.
The announcement comes weeks before Beyoncé takes the stage for the half-time show at Superbowl XLVII. Rumors suggest Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams could be joining her on stage.
Forget the game….can we see half time!?
Kendrick Lamar has his city on fire. Last week he performed two sold out shows in one night at Club Nokia L.A. Live, and was joined on stage by none other than Dr. Dre, T.I., Big Sean and The Game. The following day he performed to a sold out crowd of 2000 at The Fox Theater in Pomona.
Clearly that wasn’t enough for the King.
Yesterday, the TDE artist tweeted he was having an impromptu free show outside of Staples Center following the Laker game. Talk about #CRAY. That was all it took for the madness to begin. The Laker game started at 6:30pm, and by 8pm there were already a good 100 people standing in the parking lot across the street from the venue waiting to see a piece of hip-hop history! At the top of a city tour bus parked directly across the street Kendrick emerged and performed for a good 18 minutes before the cops shut him down. Why? The crowd of 100 quickly turned into hundreds as soon as the game let out. Kendrick performed “Swimming Pools” twice and “The Recipe”. Pop the hood to check out some photos from the event below! GENIUS! Continue reading
