Rumor: Outkast to Reunite at Coachella 2014?

outkast

Andre 3000 and Big Boi put Outkast on the back burner in 2007, but the two may be headed for a reunion at next year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Billboard reports multiple sources have confirmed talks to appear at the Indio, Calif., festival, which begins April 11, 2014. Though no Outkast reps have officially confirmed the rap duo’s reunion, one source told Billboard it’s “all systems go.” Plus, Outkast collaborator Sleepy Brown recently posted an Instagram photo with the text “Outkast headlining Coachella 2014” superimposed over the shot.

The Coachella appearance likely would be the first of several Outkast shows, including additional festival dates.

Since releasing Idlewild in 2006, Big Boi and Andre 3000 have kept busy collaborating with other acts and releasing solo material. Both appeared on a remix of Frank Ocean’s Pink Matter, though they were quick to say that collaboration didn’t constitute an Outkast reunion.

Since Coachella started in 1999, reunions have been one of the festival’s distinguishing features with acts like Big Audio Dynamite, Faith No More, Iggy and the Stooges, the Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, The Pixies, Rage Against the Machine and Siouxsie & the Banshees getting back together on its stages.

D. Woods On Danity Kane’s Reunion: ‘I Found Out On Twitter’

tumblr_lpnfjeNL3E1qesepao1_500

It looks like the girls of Danity Kane had a reunion party and forgot to invite D. Woods.

Last week, DK fans were super excited when girl group reunited for the first time in six years and started chatting about the possibility of a new album. The girls were spotted arriving at a restaurant together in LA, however, one person who was noticeably missing from the action was former Danity Kane member D. Woods. Unfortunately for her, she had to find out about the reunion on Twitter like the rest of us.

In a recent interview with Hot 107.5′s Bijou Star, she said that although she wasn’t informed about the reunion, if they were to approach her to make music with them again, she would definitely consider it. She also chatted about the rest of the girls being able to still use the name “Danity Kane” and what she’s currently working on.

Catch a few excerpts and listen to the interview below:

On the Danity Kane reunion
After seeing the pictures and the clip with the video, I saw that they were in Los Angeles. I’m not in Los Angeles so there goes the reason why I was not in the picture. I’m actually in Atlanta right now. I’m in pre-production rehearsal for the new musical ‘Rebirth’, so that’s what I’m currently doing.

On how she heard about the ‘Danity Kane’ reunion and whether she would consider joining the group again
I found out when my twitter timeline went off the chain.  We did go our separate ways in the fall of 2008. […] I’ve committed to projects and developing my own label, so I know right now, I can’t commit to splitting my focus on something like that. I don’t want to hold anyone back. If they feel like that’s what they want to do, and they want to do it right now, they’re going to do it. I mean you don’t have to wait for me. I’m going to support them as I’ve always supported them, and I hope they will support me.

On Aubrey saying, “Diddy Who?” when asked if Diddy approved of the reunion
I don’t know what they meant by it, so I can’t speak on it and how they feel about the man but you know things happen. I know when I parted from the group I said, ‘Thank you very much for the opportunity. You know I’ve always looked up to you as a business man, as a music mogul and maybe we will cross paths again in the future. This industry is just about the ones who keep doing it. So you’re going to see me again.’

On whether they can legally use the name Danity Kane
We as a group came up with the name. I’m not spiteful and I’m not going to try and get something that I didn’t put in work for, so if they are working on some new music, if they are doing some new stuff that I haven’t contributed to, that’s theirs. I got mine over here.

On whether she still talks to anyone from the group
You know what, we are just on different walks of life and we’re spread out all over the country. It’s hard to keep up with people. There’s no bad blood to where its like, ‘I just don’t want to talk to her.’

On whether she would like to rejoin the group
Where it makes sense in my schedule and the things that I have coming up, there’s a possibility. If it was brought to me, I would definitely consider it.  I’m definitely focused on the future. I’m really not trying to rehash the past. Just moving forward.

Can there be a Danity Kane reunion with no D. Woods?

Andre 3000 On Big Boi Remixes

The 32nd Annual Toronto International Film Festival - "Battle in Seattle" Premiere

Check out what Rap Radar is reporting:

It’s been a while since Outkast’s last recording. And with Big Boi remixing “Pink Matter“ and “Sorry” soon, 3 Stacks sets the record straight on his partner’s inclusions.

“It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.’ I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.

I never want to mislead our audience – I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.

I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn’t.”

Sorry folks….we were hoping for a reunion too.

Listen To The World Premiere of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Nuclear’

Destinys-Child-Thumbnail

(via Mashable) Sony Music has released the audio for “Nuclear,” the first song from Destiny’s Child since the group broke up in 2005. Here is the world premiere of it:

The track will be featured on Destiny’s Child’s recently — and unexpectedly — announced album. Titled Love Songs, the 14-track album is a compilation of the trio’s romantic music from 1997 to 2004 plus “Nuclear.” It is available for pre-order and comes out Jan. 29.

The release of “Nuclear” marks the first time in eight years that Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have joined forces to unleash a recording together.

Pharrell Williams produced “Nuclear” and co-wrote it with Michelle Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal. Knowles and Bereal took the reigns on vocal production. Continue reading

Cee-Lo Talking about Goodie Mob Reunion Album

Ten years after releasing an album with their full lineup in tact, Cee-Lo says, “We’re just getting started.”

The full Goodie Mob roster hasn’t released an album in over a decade. But Cee-Lo says he is now moving his solo work and his Gnarls Barkley projects to the side to give his Dungeon Family brethren his full attention. Following 2009’s reunion and the domestic and European tour it spawned, Cee-Lo says Goodie Mob might have an album worth of material, and they’re still recording. Continue reading
