George Zimmerman helps rescue family from car wreck

George Zimmerman, the man whose acquittal on murder and manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin set off a wave of protests across the nation, helped rescue a family from an overturned SUV four days after the verdict, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on monday.

The statement said that on Wednesday, at approximately 5:45 p.m. ET, the sheriff’s office responded to a single car accident at an intersection in the Sanford, Fla., area not far from where Zimmerman, 29, shot Trayvon, 17, in February 2012. The statement said a blue Ford Explorer had run off the road and rolled over with a family of four inside.

When a deputy arrived at the scene, two men had already helped the family out of the SUV. One of the men was Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch coordinator in Sanford.

“Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after making contact with the deputy,” the statement said. There were no reports of injuries, it said.

A jury of six women acquitted Zimmerman, who pleaded self-defense, of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges July 13. That set off protests across the nation, highlighted by “Justice for Trayvon” rallies held Saturday in more than 100 cities.

They Watching: George Zimmerman’s Brother Believes Obama Tapped His Phone

Robert Zimmerman says that his family has not spoken to his brother, George Zimmerman, since he was acquitted for the murder of Trayvon Martin because President Barack Obama’s administration may be listening to their phone calls.robert-zimmerman-jr-photoIn an Tuesday interview on Fox News, Robert Zimmerman said that George Zimmerman’s parents had not spoken to or seen their son since the verdict on Saturday night.

“We do have concerns and always have of having our phones tapped, having our phones, you know, listened to by the administration or whomever because George is now as we know continually the subject of ongoing investigation.”

“So a lot of the things that we do are connecting in person, that’s how we’ve managed to stay hidden for so long, that’s kind of old school, but it works,” Robert Zimmerman added. “I have not spoken to him directly for the same reason.”

George Zimmerman arrested, charged with second-degree murder in Trayvon Martin shooting

The neighborhood watch volunteer who shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was arrested and charged with second-degree murder Wednesday after weeks of mounting tensions and protests across the country.

George Zimmerman, 28, could get up to life in prison if convicted in the slaying of the unarmed black teenager.

Special prosecutor Angela Corey announced the charges but would not discuss how she arrived at them or disclose other details of her investigation, saying: “That’s why we try cases in a courtroom.”

Second-degree murder is typically brought in cases when there is a fight or other confrontation that results in death but involves no premeditation to kill. It carries a mandatory minimum of 25 years behind bars when a gun is used.

Martin’s parents expressed relief over the decision to prosecute their son’s killer.

“The question I would really like to ask him is, if he could look into Trayvon’s eyes and see how innocent he was, would he have then pulled the trigger? Or would he have just let him go on home?” said his father, Tracy Martin. Continue reading

Are Race Relations in America Going Backwards?

In 2008 when Barack Obama was elected as the first african american president of the United States of America many felt that finally the color lines between black and white were finally being erased. This has turned out to be the exact opposite it seems as if race relations are disintegrating by the day.

With recent tragic events such as the Trayvon Martin killing  the Tulsa,Oklahoma shootings and a massive increase of racially charged rhetoric in the media it seems that america is willing to allow history to repeat itself. Then there is this:  “The Talk, Nonblack Version” written by John Derbyshire former writer of the conservative news site the National Review.

This article is meant to educate whites and Asians on what to do when encountering blacks.  Pop the hood to read some of the excerpts from the article… which is ignorant to say the least. Continue reading
